(Manila, Philippines) — The governments of Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines have pledged to enhance cooperation in the regional crackdown on the illegal trade of marine turtles in the rich waters of the Coral Triangle.
The commitment was made at a marine turtle trade workshop hosted by the Philippine government from June 3 to 4, according to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines.
The Regional State of the Coral Triangle (RSCT) provides benchmarks on the biophysical, governance, and socioeconomic attributes of the six Coral Triangle countries, also known as CT6 - Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea (PNG), the Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste—and the threats, vulnerabilities, and emerging issues in each country and in the CT6 as a collective unit.

The Economics of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the Coral Triangle (EFACT) is the first report of its kind that consolidates primary and secondary information on fisheries and aquaculture using a regional lens and analytical tools from economics. The EFACT is an output of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) technical assistance—Regional Cooperation on Knowledge Management, Policy, and Institutional Support to the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI).

I am pleased to send warm greetings to all CTI-CFF colleagues as you prepare activities marking Coral Triangle Day (CT-Day) 2014. You may recall that in 2012 in Putrajaya, Malaysia, our Ministers endorsed June 9 as CT-Day.
Looking back at the last two years of CT-Day celebrations, I would like to express my warmest appreciation to those who have consistently devoted themselves to organizing numerous events that strengthen ties among CT-6 Countries, Partners, and communities living in the Coral Triangle region.
