Jakarta, Indonesia – The Philippines became the fifth country, out of six member countries, to complete its ratification process for the Agreement on the Establishment of the Regional Secretariat of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF).

In its notification to the Interim Regional Secretariat of CTI-CFF, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia confirmed that the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Jakarta transmitted the instrument of ratification on 8 January 2015.

On April 23-May 3, 2014, the U.S. DOI International Technical Assistance Program in collaboration with CTC, hosted and organized the first-ever U.S.-based Peer Learning Exchange for Women Leaders in the Coral Triangle countries. The exchange gathered 13 women leaders from each of the six Coral Triangle countries to participate in a professional development program in the form of a multi-faceted study tour to the U.S., involving state-of-the-art leadership training and field-based learning opportunities.

At the same time as the six-member countries of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF) confirmed the entry into force of the agreement on the establishment of its regional secretariat, the Committee of Senior Officials recommended to Council of Ministers the appointment of Prof. Dr. Widi Agoes Pratikto as the first ever Executive Director (ED) of its permanent Regional Secretariat.
